Success Stories
“Creating promising futures for children—whatever it takes” is what Crossroad is all about. Success is always our goal and truly our joy!
In this area of our website we will be sharing the stories of children who have come to Crossroad for help. Crossroad has been a pioneer in measuring success (Outcomes) and those numbers tell important stories, but the stories you will find here will be told with words instead of numbers. In many cases, because of confidentiality, we will not be able to disclose the real names of children or tell their entire stories, but we will celebrate real accomplishments and real triumphs!
The stories we will share may be accounts of great life changes like the story of “L” who grew up in a chaotic and abusive world. Wanting so badly for everyone to think she was perfect, ironically she chose to cut herself to ease emotional pain. Upon arriving on campus at Crossroad, she found safety, education, encouragement, hope and the much-needed life tools to help her cope with her severe emotional trauma.
They may be accounts of “taking small steps” like the story of “J” who found it impossible just to get through a single day without acting out. But, with the patient encouragement of his therapist, teachers and other Crossroad staff, eventually he made it through an entire day…and then another…and then a few days in a row without losing his temper; without throwing his books; without throwing himself on the floor.
They may be stories of former clients who came to Crossroad for treatment. They may be stories of former residents who came here as orphans. They may be stories of young unwed mothers who found sanctuary here.
We have many stories to tell and we hope you will come back to this page often – to celebrate promising futures – often developing right before our eyes!
